Cosmetic Dentistry has come a long way.
If you are happy with the color, shape, contour, size, length or width of your teeth, you have options. Dentists have various ways in which they can achieve the look you desire. They can use a tooth colored resin material to fill in spaces, and recontour the shape. This is an in-expensive option, but does not last as long and is not as stain resistant and durable as other options. Dentist’s can also crown (cap) your teeth. Crowns are usually made of porcelain and encase the entire tooth. They can be made to look like natural teeth, with no metal around the edges, causing discoloration. This procedure is reserved for teeth that have a lot of breakdown, or significant internal discoloration
Another way to alter the shape of your teeth is with veneers. Veneers are a thin cover that goes over the front surface of your teeth. These also are usually made of porcelain and are very thin and life-like. They are like instant orthodontics.
You can also wear thin, invisible trays that will make your teeth straighter, without having metal braces put on. You will not have problems with puffy gums, food getting caught, canker sores, etc. If you are happy with the texture and shape of your teeth this is a great option. Remember, once they are straight, you can always whiten them.
All of the above options have different costs and time requirements. Talk to your dentist if you are not happy with the look of your teeth. There have been many studies that have proved, your teeth are one of the first things a person will look at when they meet you. Your dentist is trained to discuss all your options, and assure you of what will work best in your mouth.
At Prezioso Dental we offer free consultations on all these procedures. We can give you the pros and cons of each.
